USA Track & Field is the national governing body of track & field.  USATF membership is required for participation in Sherwood Track Club. Membership provides athletes, coaches, parents and fans of track & field the opportunity to show their support of our sport while receiving a wide range of benefits.  Membership is included in club registration fee.

All practices will be held at the Sherwood Middle School track. Practices are held rain or shine. Please refer to our calendar for the complete STC schedule.  Note--schedule is subject to change.  During track season please be willing to check your e-mail on a daily basis.  Because we have so many participants, this is the easiest way for us to communicate with you.

Please show up at the track 10 minutes early to get a warm-up run in. Athletes need to be picked up promptly at the end of practice.  Please inform your coach if you need to miss a practice.

The uniform consists of a singlet and shorts purchased at the time of registration.  Warm-ups will be necessary to keep the athlete warm and dry during Oregon’s cool and wet spring months. STC apparel is available for purchase on registration night and the first week of practice.   The sub-bantams uniform will be the STC t-shirt and their own pair of black shorts.  This will help to keep the costs down for the younger athletes.

Athletes do not need to spend a lot of money on a running shoe, but it is recommended that they try to get a true running shoe.  There are a number of locations in the local area which can provide help and information on shoe options.  Please visit our services page on the website for names and locations of some of these stores.

An athlete is welcome to participate in other sports at the same time s/he is a member of Sherwood Track Club.  It will be asked that the athlete inform their coach that s/he will be a member of another team or club at the same time and confirm practice schedule conflicts.  If a given athlete is a member of a relay team, their priority sport must be STC and attendance is mandatory for nights relay work will be done and at Saturday track meets.  If at any time an athlete misses a practice or meet and causes other relay team members to not compete, they will be asked to no longer be a member of the relay team.

There is a registration fee to participate in Sherwood Track Club, but STC is committed to allowing all athletes to compete in the sport of track & field if so desired.  If for any reason the fee to join the club poses an exceptional hardship to the family, we will discuss options to allow the student to join the team.

Jason Humble should be contacted to discuss such a situation.

STC is run solely through the help of parent volunteers. Here are some areas in which we need your help.

As Needed Help

Each season there will be at least one STC sponsored developmental meet.  Many volunteers will be required to operate this event, therefore we are requiring at least one family member for each athlete be able to volunteer this day.  More specific information to come.  Thank you for your help with this.

Participation on a relay team is an important commitment. Athletes desiring to tryout for a position on a relay team will need to understand they are committed to the relay team up to regionals or nationals.  If one member of the relay team is unable or unwilling to compete, none of the remaining team members can go. Please check vacation schedules prior to making a commitment to a relay team.
